The housing boom after dot com collapsed is caused by the high employment and massive inflow population from other countries. Even the NASDAQ collapsed, the momentum of economy is still going on. When the house price went high, the cost goes up, so there are a lot of business moved away to Washington/Oregon/Idaho. So lots of people believe now the right time to call dot com collapsed is when the housing collapsed, not NASDAQ collapsed. Last year (2007) is the first year in the history of California that population is reduced. Population growth is usually the early signal of economy turning point.However the immigrants from Mexico is still fueling California, and it will keep the state out of trouble for long time IP: Logged |

区也会变的,我觉得以前认为DOWNTOWN附近不好,可现在油价奇贵,将来还要翻番, 那些住市郊开车的估计很快又想搬回来,买房是投资,要看眼光.

它这只是个很概括的统计,具体到好的区,也就降了5%左右。坏的区,贩毒卖 淫枪战的,可能降了不少,可没人去买啊。

i think u need to wait until June or July for the conforming limit increase to take effect, but the 30 year jumble fix doesn't look attractive at all, so even with the limit increase, the rate still looks crappy.IP: Logged |

I heard that market will melt down another 25% in 2008 and 2009 compound. Maybe it's still a bad time to jump into. The question then falls into the local job market, and bay area might be the better choice anyway.IP: Logged |

As far as I can tell, the following areas are significantly slowing down: finance, real estate, semi-conductor, software, and legal transactional side. Some companies start laying off people; more freeze hiring; and most are cutting costs. I don't think it's a good time to switch job in particular, but job market wise the Bay Area may not be a bad choice depending on your current job situation. The Bay Area offers more job opportunities in general, even in an economic downturn. On the flip side your current job holds more seniority and thus stability. So ultimately it's your personal choice. Regarding specific neighborhoods around here, it's hard to get a general idea before you get to know the place. The standard of "decent" is noticeably lower than most other areas so don't expect much for a big chunck of money. IP: Logged |
